First I want to say a special thank you to Mom for choosing this man to be our Dad. I have so many great memories of Dad while growing up. I often think of the daybed in the corner our living room in Eastport. How Dad would tell Dave, Ray and me stories to help us go to sleep. I also think about the trips we made in under Sandy Cove head with our dog Bingo and the blue sled to get wood; and how Dad would cook up the pot of rolled oats for our breakfast. Dad would sit by the table and help us with our homework.

When Dad got older in life he needed special care and I tried to do everything I could to make sure that he got it. I also worked along with the health care nurse when Dad burned his foot burned to change dressings and to call her if any changes. When we had homecare workers I would show them how to sit Dad up or lay him down so they wouldn't hurt him.  When the girls couldn't come in, I would work with him myself.

He was always there to listen and give us advice on different things in life. But there is one thing I will never forget that Dad would say to me "if you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say nothing at all". I held his hand through his last hour of life, this I will treasure forever. He will live with me forever with the most precious memories. Your are going to be missed Dad, but never forgotten and forever loved. I love you Dad.

DAVID WROTE:

Our Dad will never be forgotten by many people. To me he was more than a hard worker and a fiddle player; he was an encourager in His faith in a living God; hope in the future that he believed that Heaven was a real place and he was a man of real love - for he gave when it was a sacrifice for him to do so. Many times growing up he stopped his work to take the time to do something we'd need done - like cutting out a hockey stick, fixing the chain on our bikes; helping us to make a sling-shot; and push us in his wheel barrow. He will be missed; there is that gap in our lives that will never be filled; but I have the assurance that one day I will see Him again. For Dad's faith and hope was in Jesus Christ and we are of kindred faith and hope. Dad! I will see you again; we will reunite on that peaceful shore. love you - your son David

Dad, I miss you! We love you!

SHEILA WROTE:

Any one who met Dad felt a gentleness  about him. He had a calming,  charming manner about him. He was particular when   it came to building  his musical instruments. He built ukuleles, guitars and violins throughout his lifetime. Many were sold across the continent and some around the world.
